Welcome to the SWIM for the "International Mars Ice Mapper" (SWIM4IMIM) Products Page!

You can download all SWIM4IMIM products by clicking the "Download Products" buttom. Similarly, all GeoTIFFs or all browse products can be downloaded via their respective buttom. Browse products contain labeling and color bar information.

If you wish to download individual products, please click the appropriate check boxes and click "Download Selected Files" near the bottom of the page. Products may be previewed by clicking on their product name.

The GeoTIFFs will load directly into QGIS and ArcMap.

To manually load the data into other GIS software, please use the following:
Projection = simple cylindrical.

Combined Ice Consistency Map (0-1 m)

Last Updated: 2025-08-04 12:32:04

The ice consistency map is generated by combining all individual consistency maps through the 'SWIM CI[0-1m] Equation', i.e., Neutron, Thermal, Shallow Geomorphology, and Radar Surface Power. The ice consistency map is designed to show where all data sets are consistent or inconsistent with the presence of ice over the combined sensing depth of 1 m, indicating the likely presence of ice or lack thereof in that location.
Combined Ice Consistency Map (1-5 m)

Last Updated: 2025-08-04 13:08:46

The ice consistency map is generated by combining all individual consistency maps through the 'SWIM CI[1-5m] Equation', i.e., Shallow Geomorphology, Radar Surface Power, and Radar Dielectric Estimates. The ice consistency map is designed to show where all data sets are consistent or inconsistent with the presence of ice between 1 and 5 m, indicating the likely presence of ice or lack thereof in that location.
Combined Ice Consistency Map (>5 m)

Last Updated: 2025-08-04 13:08:46

The ice consistency map is generated by combining all individual consistency maps through the 'SWIM CI>5m] Equation', i.e., Deep Geomorphology and Radar Dielectric Estimates. The ice consistency map is designed to show where all data sets are consistent or inconsistent with the presence of ice deeper than 5 m, indicating the likely presence of ice or lack thereof in that location.
Combined Ice Consistency Map (SWIM 1.0)

Last Updated: 2025-08-04 13:08:46

The ice consistency map is generated by combining all individual consistency maps through the 'SWIM 1.0 Equation', i.e., Neutron, Thermal, Radar Surface Power, Geomorphology, and Radar Dielectric Estimates. The ice consistency map is designed to show where all data sets are consistent or inconsistent with the presence of ice over a combined sensing depth of ~5 m, indicating the likely presence of ice or lack thereof in that location.

SWIM Reconnaissance Zones

Last Updated: 2025-08-05 09:13:41

Reconnaissance Zones provide notional targeting maps of the lowest-latitude ice for future orbital missions. These shapefile-based data products identify the highest-priority regions for buried ice exploration, derived from the SWIM datasets as described in Section 7 of Morgan and Putzig et al. [2025]. Ancillary data contains the Shapefile for the RZ.
Geomorphology
(0 - 1 m)

Last Updated: 2025-08-05 09:13:41

The 0 - 1 m Geomorphology Consistency map was derived from both new and previously published mappings of ten periglacial and glacial landforms described in Morgan and Putzig et al. [2025]. The geomorphology consistency estimates were calculated using a modified version of Equation 6, incorporating the weighting scheme outlined in Table 1 of Morgan and Putzig et al [2025]. Note all of the input periglacial/glacial landforms maps are available as Ancillary data.
Geomorphology
(1 - 5 m)

The 1 - 5 m Geomorphology Consistency map was derived from both new and previously published mappings of ten periglacial and glacial landforms described in Morgan and Putzig et al. [2025]. The geomorphology consistency estimates were calculated using a modified version of Equation 6, incorporating the weighting scheme outlined in Table 1 of Morgan and Putzig et al [2025]. Note all of the input periglacial/glacial landforms maps are availble as Ancillary data.
Geomorphology
(>5 m)

Last Updated: 2025-08-05 09:13:41

The >5m Geomorphology Consistency map was derived from both new and previously published mappings of eight periglacial and glacial landforms described in Morgan and Putzig et al. [2025]. The geomorphology consistency estimates were calculated using a modified version of Equation 6, incorporating the weighting scheme outlined in Table 1 of Morgan and Putzig et al [2025]. Note all of the input periglacial/glacial landforms maps are available as Ancillary data.
